Explore the rainforest, savannahs and waterfalls of Guyana and then experience Tobago from the mountains and sea.
Day 1 - Arrive Guyana
\Arrive in Guyana and transfer to Georgetown. Meet and greet at International Airport and transfer to Cara Lodge. (B,L,D)
Day 2 - Georgetown city tour, leisurely exploration of the capital
After breakfast enjoy a Georgetown City Tour highlighting the unique architecture, markets, zoo and more. Afternoon free to relax. (B,L,D)
Day 3 - Fly to Annai Village, visit Surama Village
This morning you will transfer to the airport for a flight over the rain forest and savannah to Annai in the North Rupununi. Lunch at Rock View Lodge. Transfer by 4x4 to the Amerindian community of Surama. Take a walking tour of the village, meet the village counsellors, visit the school and the Amazon Project. The Amazon Project is designed to give employment to the women of the community by growing cassava and then manufacturing food items. (B,L,D)
Day 4 - Explore the Pakaraima Mountains and nearby attractions
Today enjoy a walk along the foothills of the Pakaraima Mountains and visit nearby Amerindian villages. During the heat of the day relax in the refreshing waters of the Rupununi’s only pool. Overnight at Rock View Lodge. BLD. (B,L,D)
Day 5 - Travel to Iwokrama Rain Forest and Canopy Walkway
After breakfast depart Rock View Lodge by 4x4 for the Iwokrama Forest. This afternoon enjoy the forest from a different perspective on the new canopy walkway. The walkway winds through the treetops at 35M above the ground. Take another tree top walk after dark to experience the night sounds of the forest. (B,L,D)
Day 6 - Drive to Ginep and board boats on the Rupununi River to Karanambu Ranch
Once again take to the treetops to experience the dawn chorus. Transfer along the trails to seek the elusive Jaguar. The Iwokrama forest is rapidly gaining an international reputation for its healthy jaguar populations that seem not to be troubled by the appearance of curious humans. No promises, but many have been lucky. After breakfast transfer by 4x4 across the savannah to Ginep Landing on the Rupununi River. Transfer by boat for trip to Karanambu Ranch. This is the home of Diane McTurk, widely known for her work in rehabilitating orphaned, giant river otters to the wild. Diane and her otters have appeared on National Geographic, Jeff Corwin Experience, Really Wild Show (BBC) and the Calgary’s “Zoo World”. Karanambu has a long history of visiting naturalists and Diane’s father, Tiny McTurk, has welcomed David Attenborough and Gerald Durrell (Three Singles to Adventure). Dinner with Diane, will include stories on the history of the family and the Rupununi Savannahs. (B,L,D)
Day 7 - Birdwatching, hikes, and tending to otters at Karanambu
Today join Diane as she tends to the resident orphaned otters. Explore the Rupununi River in search of wild Giant River Otters, Black Caiman and Arapaima. An evening visit to Crane Pond to see hundreds of Ibis, Anhinga, Heron and Egret roosting is a highlight. (B,L,D)
Day 8 - Fishing, wildlife spotting, and enjoying the scene at Karanambu
Morning visit to Simoni Pond for some of the best inland fishing (add US$15.00) in Guyana including Peacock Bass. Explore the flooded forest (seasonal) or savannah with Diane. (B,L,D)
Day 9 - Fly to Baganara Island in the Essequibo River
Morning free to explore the facilities at Karanambu. After lunch fly back to Georgetown and at Baganara Island. Baganara is pre-eminent among the three hundred and sixty-five islands in the mighty Essequibo. This wonderful little island paradise has one hundred and eighty-seven acres of lush green foliage and colourful tropical flowers. Located five miles south of Bartica, it is the gateway to the unspoilt rain forest of Guyana and the junction where the great Essequibo and Mazaruni Rivers meet. You’ll have lots of space to relax, romance or just be alone, at one with nature. You can sit on the balcony and simply enjoy the view, or take a long walk along the pristine white sand beach as the cool river waters gently lap at its shores. (B,L,D)
Day 10 - Kaieteur and Orinduik Falls
Early morning transfer to Baganara Island for a charter flight to Kaieteur and Orinduik Falls. Two hours on the ground, to explore one of the worlds most spectacular waterfalls. The flight then continues over the mountains and savannah to the Brazil border and Orinduik Falls. Return to Georgetown. Overnight at Cara Lodge. (B,L)
Day 11 - Fly to Trinidad and Tobago
Transfer to airport for flight to Trinidad and onward connection to Tobago. Pick up at airport and enjoy a scenic view of the east coast as we drive through tiny villages, past windswept beaches, and lush forest, as you make your way towards Speyside. Trip to Little Tobago. (B,L)

Day 13 - Visit Tobago’s rain forest
Morning to swim or relax at Blue Waters Inn. After lunch take a trip to the rain forest , venture into the lush, virgin forest of Tobago’s heartland. Protected by law since 1776, this forest reserve is the oldest protected forest in the world, and is made up of Lower Montane Forest, which was acquired while Tobago was connected to South America during the Ice Age. A truly unique and enlightening experience. (B)
