Wilderness Explorers is Guyana’s premier tour operator. Back in 1999 we were one of the first local tour operators to embrace the now-fashionable idea of community tourism. Today we remain a dedicated partner with the Amerindian village of Surama providing business support for our country’s first indigenously-operated ecolodge, Surama Eco-Lodge. That relationship has flourished and forms the basis for the Community and Tourism Services (CATS) joint venture which operates the Iwokrama Canopy Walkway in partnership with Rock View Lodge and Iwokrama River Lodge. Wilderness Explorers is a founding member of the Tourism and Hospitality Association of Guyana (THAG) as well as numerous other regional and international tourism partnerships and consortiums.
Today, Wilderness Explorers serves the vast majority of Guyana’s international inbound leisure tourists and has been recognized by National Geographic as operating one of the world’s most expertly-curated tours. Our tours span the width and breadth of Guyana’s natural, historical, geographical, and recreational landscape with a relentless focus on economic, cultural, and environmental sustainability. Wilderness Explorers tours now include specialized programs in Suriname, French Guiana, Dominica, Trinidad/Tobago, St. Lucia, and Barbados.
