Carved out of the jungle, Kabalebo is a hidden and remote gem
There are few places where relaxation, adventure, and cultural immersion are so carefully interwoven
Kabalebo is one of our favorite spots in Suriname. Getting there is half the fun, and once you’ve landed it seems like there is just never enough time to take in all the possible activities and adventures (and leisures) that are on offer. Here you’ll find ample opportunities for kayaking, hiking, mountain climbing, fishing, riverside camping, and more. The animal spotting is epic, and birders will have the time of their lives working through an extensive birdlist compiled by guides and previous guests. Kabalebo offers several types of accommodation: rooms in the main lodge are unexpectedly stylish and well appointed; three benabs on stilts face the Kabalebo river and offer a ‘treehouse’ feel; four spacious deluxe family-sized suites are situated about a 5 minutes-walking distance from the main lodge and just a stone’s throw away from the swimming pool. The elegantly-furnished and spacious Inspiration Point building is situated next to an orchard and offers stunning views of Misty Mountain; and, for the particularly adventurous, Uncle Piet’s lodge is nestled into a secret and isolated riverbank about 3 hours (by boat) from the main Lodge… perfect for the ultimate getaway!
Most people visiting Kabalebo arrive by plane, a short 1 hour flight from Zorg en Hoop in Paramaribo. Click the VIDEO tab to watch the dramatic approach and landing on our grass airstrip! Once you’re here, you are free to wander the lodge grounds but for safety reasons we always accompany guests on any excursions that leave the immediate area.
