Wild Coast Tour: Guyana, Suriname & French Guiana– Winter Season

9 Days

Tour Overview

Immerse yourself in the Wild Coast Tour: Guyana, Suriname & French Guiana – Winter Season, beginning in Georgetown with check-in at historic Cara Lodge (built in the 1840s). Explore Bourda Market and the Guyana Shop with Chef Delven Adams before a guided city tour taking in the National Museum, Walter Roth Museum of Anthropology, Stabroek Market, St. George’s Cathedral and the Botanical Gardens, with a chance to feed West Indian manatees.

Optional add-ons include a Botanical Gardens birding morning, a scenic flight to Kaieteur Falls (subject to scheduled minimums and weather), and dinner with the Singing Chef. On Sunday, travel to the Mahaica River at dawn to look for the range-restricted Blood-colored Woodpecker and Guyana’s national bird, the Hoatzin, then consider optional afternoon/evening experiences such as the Demerara Historical River Tour and Georgetown’s Seawall, bars and street-food scene.

Fly (GUMAIR ticket not included in the package rate) to Paramaribo for a UNESCO-listed city tour—Fort Zeelandia, Independence Square, the Cathedral, and the riverside Waterkant—followed by a Sunset Dolphin outing from Leonsberg and overnights at Eco Torarica. Continue to Commewijne for Plantation Peperpot Nature Park and Fort Nieuw Amsterdam, with an optional Indonesian dinner at Mirosso.

Cross the Maroni River to French Guiana for St-Laurent du Maroni’s Camp de la Transportation, then overnight at Hotel Atlantis. Sail by catamaran to the Îles du Salut (Île Royale, with views towards Île Saint-Joseph and Devil’s Island), return to Kourou, and tour the Guiana Space Centre (subject to operational closures). An optional Cayenne city tour precedes your final night at Central Hotel and the optional transfer to the airport for departure.
