Wild Coast Tour: Guyana, Suriname & French Guiana– 2026

9 Days

Tour Overview

This journey brings together the living cultures, natural wonders and layered histories of Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana. Beginning in Georgetown, guests experience the charm of Cara Lodge, the birdlife of the Botanical Gardens and Mahaica River, and the unforgettable flight over rainforest to Kaieteur Falls, where the Potaro River plunges 741 feet into the gorge below. Along the way, there are opportunities to explore Georgetown’s colonial architecture, local food culture, river life and wildlife, including the Hoatzin, Blood-colored Woodpecker, Scarlet Ibis and, with luck, the Golden Frog and Guiana Cock-of-the-rock around Kaieteur.

The itinerary then continues into Suriname and French Guiana, combining Paramaribo’s UNESCO-listed historic centre, Commewijne’s plantation heritage, Peperpot’s nature trails, dolphin watching on the river and the rainforest scenery of Brownsberg Nature Park. Crossing into French Guiana, the journey explores the history of St. Laurent du Maroni, the Îles du Salut and the former penal colony, before ending with the remarkable contrast of Europe’s spaceport in Kourou and the Creole character of Cayenne. It is a rich, carefully paced journey through rainforest, rivers, heritage towns and remote Atlantic coastlines, designed for travellers who want more than sightseeing — a deeper understanding of the Guianas.
